Client Challenge: Bypassing Text Input For Image Generation
Families were seeking an easy way for children to use AI image generation without the risk of explicit content being created. While their competitors create AI images from users typing in prompts, AugX Labs was determined to create a point-and-click platform.
The application needed to be animated and engaging for the intended audience. AugX Labs must also meet customer demand and create a foundation for future growth.
Solution
The Jahnel Group team realized AugX's vision by adopting a modern cloud architecture and deploying an efficient software engineering process. Cloud architecture allows users to prompt a web application to hit the MidJourney API. MidJourney is an artificial intelligence service that uses a trained model to generate a unique, one-of-a-kind image.
Entrusted with constructing the functionality of the client’s existing application, a Jahnel Group team was tasked with creating a serverless application model template for AWS. Jahnel Group engineers built lamba functions accessible through API gateways, enabling communication with Midjourney. Lambda functions allow the code to be hosted by AWS. Calls to the code are billed per request. With the server activated upon each request, it's not continuously running. This functionality reduces the cost of the overall project on top of expediting the development of infrastructure.
Users can now prompt the app to create family-friendly images based on selecting emojis, not inputting text. The application will return images based on prompts in an engaging, animated front-end experience. With PlayArti, you choose a place, activity, and animal, and let the magic happen!
Solving Technical Problems
The Augx Labs web application had several important technical requirements that needed to be met:
The construction of a serverless application model template for AWS. The team built lambda functions accessible through an API gateway enabling communication with Midjourney.
Initializing a serverless vue frontend, hosted in an AWS S3 bucket.
The organization of metadata, icons, and images, including customizable prompts to be created and sent to Midjourney.
Building out major user-functionality of the application to allow users to select a set of emojis and personalize their generated image. Users can then hit create, prompt the app to choose a style randomly, and hit the Midjourney API to start the creation process.
Implementing fluent, cross-browser-compatible animations to make it a more engaging experience for the user.
Post-deployment of adjustments according to client requests, including enabling sharing native sharing functionality, and additional animations.
Results
AugX Lab’s new AI image generator, designed specifically for children is live. This cutting-edge technology allows kids to select from various topic pictures and create custom images in a safe, fun, and engaging way. The user-friendly interface makes it easy for children to use. The selection of topics ensures that there's something for every child to enjoy.
This AI image generator is different from others on the market. Other AI-based tools can be difficult to access and may produce inappropriate images.
